Astigmatism is a refractive error caused by an irregular shaped cornea causing light to have multiple focal points. This irregularity causes blurred or distorted vision at multiple distances.

In order to achieve the clearest visual acuity, the light rays that enters the eye must focus directly on the cornea.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE ASTIGMATISM?

Symptoms of astigmatism consist of:

•blurry vision                                                                                                                  •distortion                                                                                                                                •glare and halos around car lights                                                                                        •light sensitivity                                                                                                              •headaches                                                                                                                      •squinting to see clearly                                                                                                      •vision worsening in dim light or darkened light
